Vocaloid Descriptions: SONiKA
(I thought this was scheduled for last Friday, but I forgot to push the Publish button. Oops.)
SONiKA
Voice donor: No information except her age, 17, and her description: a “virtual vocalist modeled on the voice of a young girl pop singer.”

Some other official boxart? I honestly have no idea. Looks hideous though. |

Engine: V2
Company: Made and sold by Zero-G
Release date: July 14, 2009
Language: English
Voice type: Young-sounding voice with a British accent. Sounds kind of like a glitchy Olivia, but with her own distinctive tone.
Weaknesses: Ummm… In terms of quality, Sonika is a mess. She mumbles, mispronounces, and in general you can’t understand her. This is mainly because of bad samples.
Strengths: Because of her unique setup, however, she can say words that other V2’s simply couldn’t. But what is more counted as a strength in my mind is her flaws. She sounds really unique, and in the right hands (say, those of Ady S), she can actually sound really good.
Examples: Bi☣hazard, Fade Away, Levitation, Dance Machine, Goodbye, Goodnight
Reception: She wasn’t really received well, but she did give a lot more definition to the concept of an “Engloid” and the “Vocaloid Family.” The frustratingly vague term was coined originally around her release, and in twitter posts she referred to LEON and LOLA as her older siblings, Prima and Tonio as her aunt and uncle respectively, Big Al as her best friend, and all other Vocaloids as her cousins.
My opinion: I like her voice, it’s quite quirky. I also appreciate her, as there are not as many people to appreciate the poor un-updated V2s.
