Vocaloid Descriptions: Megpoid (Gumi)
(Note: I have realized that, ya know what, I don't have to describe Vocaloids I don't like. So there. Oh, and about Gumi vs Megpoid, Megpoid is her product name and Gumi is her character name. I know, it's confusing, but it it what it is.)
Gumi
Voice donor: Megumi Nakajima
Engine: V2
Company: Made and sold by Internet Co.
Release date: June 2009
Updates and/or additional voicebanks: V3 update, extends, English voicebank, V4x update
Language: Japanese, English
Voice type: Slightly “scratchy” high-ranged female voice. Sounds about in her late teens to early twenties.
Strengths: Gumi honestly has the best English of the Big 8. She is a professional-quality product, with a lot of different voicebanks (the most of any Vocaloid, in fact), each suited to different genres, to choose from.
Weaknesses: Her design is… Hmm. She has a slight Japanese accent. Her English especially has a bit of a “percussive” sound. That’s about all I could think of.
Examples: Oh moons, there are so many good Gumi songs… I’m gonna link to as many of them as I can, because why not. Without You, I Think I Just Died, Who We Are, Without You, Sweet Surrender, Binary Girl, Heart Strings, More Than, Smell the Roses, Find My Way, Daffodil Dawn, Dreams Will Carry On, CANDY CANDY, Wildfire, ECHO, Copycat, MONSTER, Again
Reception: Gumi is the most popular non-Crypton Vocaloid, and she has the quality to back that up. The only negative reaction I’ve found to her is to her design, and that’s understandable.
My opinion: I like Gumi. She’s a high-quality Vocaloid with actually good English and a unique voice- plus she has a special place in my heart as the first Vocaloid that I listened to and really liked.
Gumi has a lot of different boxarts so I just chose this one. Eh. |

Gotta love the gooms ;D I totally agree that her english is amazing. That and her unique voice is why I spam her so much when it comes to making songs lol
ReplyDelete"The gooms" I haven't heard that nickname for her yet lol
DeleteWell, I would say that Fukase has slightly better English than she does, but she certainly has the best English of the Big 8. And that signature Gumi "scratch..."
